Yolo County Children’s Alliance holds tax preparation assistance events – Daily Democrat
Yolo County nonprofits are holding three free tax preparation events in West Sacramento beginning this month.
The Yolo County Children’s Alliance, United Way and the city of West Sacramento are collaborating to help the community prepare for tax season with Voluntary Income Tax Assistance events. The first event will be held on March 13 and the last on April 10.
“With the pandemic placing a large portion of our community into uncertain times, assistance navigating the daunting process of filing taxes is just one way we are working together to help those in need,” explained a statement from Yolo County Children’s Alliance.
An appointment is necessary for these services, and assistance will be offered in English, Spanish, Russian and Farsi to help as many in our community as possible.
To schedule an appointment, individuals can call the Yolo County Children’s Alliance Family Resource Center at 916-572-0560. Appointments will take place at the following times and places:
- March 13: 9 a.m. to noon at the Arthur F. Turner Community Library (this event is full)
- March 27: 8 a.m. to noon at the Yolo County Children’s Alliance Family Resource Center
- April 10: 8 a.m. to noon at the Yolo County Children’s Alliance Family Resource Center
“Many West Sacramentans have faced difficult times and financial hardship during the pandemic, so getting the most out of our tax returns is vital to survival, and to starting on the road to recovery,“ stated West Sacramento Mayor Martha Guerrero. “One of the key aspects of these tax events is that we work with the Yolo County Children’s Alliance to provide accessible assistance in several languages: English, Spanish, Russian and Farsi to serve our diverse population.”
The Yolo County Children’s Alliance staff also offers virtual tax preparation assistance and limited in-person assistance Monday through Thursday.
