Late renters tax refund? : personalfinance

Hi! I’ve just realized that I had to file my renters’ return by mail by August 15th. I couldn’t find a clear statement online, so I’m asking you, fellow redditiers.
Should/may I file it asap? If yes, how long will it take for them to process it? I found info that I can file it for up to a year after the deadline, but will it change my case in any way?
