Is this a scam? Total Tax Preparation Fee? : personalfinance
Hello. I received an email not too long ago from a bank I’ve never heard of. I did some research and they seem legit, but I’ve never gotten an email like this before and I’ve been using TaxAct to file my taxes for years now. I also have every deduction and fee taken out automatically when filing my taxes so I don’t have to worry about it. Is this legit? I don’t want to click any links before knowing if it’s real or not.
Thank you for filing your tax return with taxact.com.
TaxAct partners with Republic Bank & Trust Company (“Republic Bank”), member FDIC, to offer taxpayers a convenient way to pay for their tax preparation and other fees: a Refund Transfer. This allows you to use your tax refund to pay these fees rather than paying upfront with a credit or debit card.
When you filed your taxes on 4/1/2022, you chose a Refund Transfer to have your Total Tax Preparation Fees directly deducted from your tax refund.
In section 5 of the Refund Transfer Application and Agreement you authorized Republic Bank to debit your bank account to pay your Total Tax Preparation Fees owed in the event that we do not receive full payment of these fees owed within 77 days of filing your tax return.
Unfortunately, we have not yet received full payment of your Total Tax Preparation Fees of $59.95 (If applicable: TaxAct Tax Software Fees, TaxAct Xpert Assist Fee, Audit Fee and E-file Concierge Fee total).
This is a friendly reminder that the 77-day mark is nearly here. Please submit your payment by clicking the below icon.
Pay Your Balance
Unless you use the link above to make this payment, or we receive your tax refund beforehand to pay the Total Tax Preparation Fees owed, we will be debiting your bank account for this payment of $59.95 on 7/08/2022.
