Many taxpayers filed tax returns in June-July and were yet to receive a refund. Such taxpayers had voiced the demand for refund on Twitter. After this, the Income Tax Department has given information on Twitter. The Income Tax Department has said that in line with the promise of improving taxpayer services, we are moving to a new technologically upgraded platform (CPC 2.0) for faster processing of ITR. Income tax return for assessment year 2020-21 will be processed through CPC 2.0. We thank you for your patience during the migration to the new system.

Migration timeline not fixed on CPC 2.0

However, in the tweet, the Income Tax Department has not provided any timeline for the start of income tax return process for migration and assessment year 2020-21 on the new CPC 2.0 platform. At present, all types of income tax returns are processed from the Centralized Processing Center of Bangalore in the Department.

1.32 lakh crore refund till 10 November

According to the Income Tax Department, refunds worth more than Rs 1.32 lakh crore have been issued to more than 39.75 lakh taxpayers from April 1 to November 10. Personal income tax refund (PIT) during this period was Rs 35,123 crore and corporate tax refund was Rs 97,677 crore.

To find out the refund status, two information needs to be filled here – PAN number and the year for which the refund is due.

After this, the status will come on clicking Proceed.
Also, log in to your Income Tax account in the Taxpayer Income Tax Portal.
After logging in, click on My Accounts> Refund / Demand Status.
After this, fill the assessment year for which you have to check the refund state.
