Free federal, state tax preparation available in Ulster County – Daily Freeman
KINGSTON, N.Y. — Internal Revenue Service-certified AARP volunteers will again help prepare and e-file federal and New York state tax returns for low- and moderate-income individuals and families in Ulster County this tax season.
The free service is available at multiple sites, with special attention offered to those ages 50 and over.
Appointments are necessary for all sites. Beginning Monday, Feb. 7, appointments can be requested by emailing ulstertaxaide@gmail.com. Appointment requests should include your name, phone number and email along with your preferred tax preparation location and whether you want a morning, afternoon or evening appointment. Emails will be answered as soon as possible by a limited staff of volunteers.
Tax preparation will be offered on Thursdays in Kingston at the Ulster County Community Action, 70 Lindsley Ave., and on Tuesdays at the Kingston Library, 55 Franklin Ave.; on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Stone Ridge at the Marbletown Community Center, 3564 Main St. (U.S. Route 2090; in New Paltz on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 34 S. Chestnut St.; in Saugerties on Wednesdays at the Kiwanis Ice Arena, Washington Avenue Extension; on limited Fridays in Napanoch at the Shawangunk Senior Center, 70 Main St.; on one day in March (to be determined) at the Olive Library, 4033 state Route 28A, West Shokan; and on Mondays at the Gardiner Library, 133 Farmer’s Turnpike in Gardiner.
